Hanuman Chalisa in English Translation

"With the dust of my Guru's lotus feet,
I clean the mirror of my mind and heart.
I narrate the pure glory of Lord Ram,
which bestows the four fruits of life's desires.

Knowing myself to be ignorant and lacking,
I invoke the name of Pavan Kumar (Hanuman).
Grant me strength, intelligence, and wisdom,
and remove all my afflictions and impurities.Hail Hanuman, the ocean of knowledge and virtues!

Hail Kapi (Monkey-God), illuminating the three worlds!
You are the messenger of Lord Ram,
embodiment of immense strength, and son of the wind.

You possess great courage, strength, and power, and
you dispel wickedness and grant pure wisdom.
Your radiant form shines with golden complexion,
adorned with earrings and curly locks of hair.

In your hands, you hold the thunderbolt and flag,
and wear the sacred thread across your shoulder.
You are the son of Lord Shiva and Kesari,
and your divine splendor is revered by the world.

You are filled with wisdom, virtues, and great intellect,
ever eager to serve Lord Ram's commands.
Listening to the divine exploits of the Lord,
you reside in the hearts of Ram, Lakshman, and Sita.

You displayed a subtle form before Sita,
and assumed a colossal form to burn Lanka.
In a terrifying form, you destroyed demons,
and fulfilled Lord Ram's tasks with devotion.

You brought the Sanjeevani herb and revived Lakshman,
filling Shri Ram with immense joy.
Raghupati (Lord Ram) praised you highly,
and declared you dearer than his own brother Bharata.

The celestial beings sing praises to your thousand-armed form,
and even Lord Shiva finds it difficult to describe your glories.
You have received boons from Yama (the god of death),
Kubera (the god of wealth), and the guardians of the four directions.

You aided Sugriva with your wise counsel,
and reunited him with Lord Ram, enthroning him as the king.
Your advice was accepted by Vibhishan,
who became the king of Lanka and a devotee of Lord Ram.

The mere remembrance of your name,
turned Ravana, the king of demons, into ashes.
You relieved all afflictions and sorrows,
and the sages and saints chanted your name with devotion.

The guards of the four directions, Yama, and Kubera,
poets and scholars cannot fully describe your glory.
You bestowed your blessings upon Sugriva,
and granted him the boons he desired. With your signet ring, given by Lord Ram,
you leaped over the ocean, astounding everyone.
You effortlessly completed even the most difficult tasks,
and bestowed blessings upon the world.

Lord Ram entrusted you with the responsibility,
of guarding the gate to his abode.
No one can enter without your permission,
and those who seek refuge in you need not fear.

You possess the power to diminish your own splendor,
and shake the three worlds with your might.
Ghosts and goblins cannot come near you,
O Hanuman, when your name is invoked.

You destroy diseases and all suffering,
and Hanuman, the brave hero, is constantly remembered.
You liberate from all difficulties,
those who chant your name with focus and devotion.

Lord Ram is the supreme ascetic king,
and you fulfill all his tasks.
Whoever comes to you with a heartfelt desire,
attains the eternal fruit of a fulfilled life.

Your glory has spread across all four ages,
and you are renowned throughout the world.
You protect the saints and sages,
and annihilate the demons, O beloved son of Lord Ram.

You possess the eight siddhis (supernatural powers) and nine treasures,
and fulfill the desires of Janaki (Goddess Sita).
The essence of Ram's teachings is in your possession,
and you forever remain the servant of Lord Ram.

By singing your praises, one attains the grace of Lord Ram,
and all sufferings of countless lifetimes are eradicated.
At the end of life, one reaches the abode of Lord Ram,
and is hailed as a devotee by Hari (Lord Vishnu).

No other deity can match your greatness,
O Hanuman, who bestows all happiness.
Any obstacle or distress is eliminated,
for those who remember the mighty Hanuman.

Victory, victory, victory to Lord Hanuman,
bestow your grace, O revered Guru.
Whoever recites this Hanuman Chalisa,
attains Siddhis (spiritual powers) and the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Tulsidas, the eternal devotee of Lord Ram,
always keeps the Lord's name in his heart.
O Lord, please reside within me and bless me abundantly,
just as you reside within the heart of the great devotee Hanuman.
